BEAUTY

The famous skyline is elegantly reflected in the glittering Elbe. It is only a short walk from the tranquil embankment with its lush green meadows to the city’s world-famous sights.
The splendour of the Zwinger, Green Vault, Semper Opera House and Frauenkirche stands alongside modern architectural masterpieces such as the New Synagogue, the Military History Museum and ambitious construction projects of the present.

The historic Altstadt (left bank) and the lively Neustadt (right bank) perfectly complement each other, as do the busy life of the city and the slower pace of its Elbland surroundings – both beautiful in their own way.

Discover Dresden Elbland with its art and culture, hospitality and lust for life.

More beautiful through the cultural autumn.

The leaves are rustling, the sun is lower and there’s something going on everywhere. That sounds like the cultural autumn of 2021! Dresden again has a lot of highlights on the program. For example, the Jazztage Dresden, which will bring many big names from the international and German jazz scene to the stages from October 20 to November 21. Or the 30th Tonlagen Festival, which will bring exciting contemporary music to the European Center for the Arts in Hellerau from 2nd to 7th of November. Add to that great musicals at the Staatsoperette and plenty of theater worth seeing at the Landesbühnen Sachsen – and you’re off!

Autumn ideas for the family.

Dresden has a lot to offer against the autumn blues. Like the FestungsXperience and ZwingerXperience with multimedia, fascinating time travel. Or a tour of Albrechtsburg Meissen and Moritzburg Castle: Here, the HistoPad lets young visitors immerse themselves intensively in history. Other fall ideas include the magnificent children’s museum in the German Hygiene Museum, the armoury in the Royal Palace – the first address for little knights – or the KID.s Tour in the Gläsernen Manufaktur Volkswagen.

One of the most beautiful cycle paths in Germany leads through Dresden Elbland: the Elbe Cycle Path. On a two-day tour without any significant ascents between Pirna and Riesa you will discover the most beautiful spots.

It gets a little more demanding in the hilly area southwest of Dresden. Deep valleys with rushing streams and hills with beautiful views alternate between Tharandt and Wilsdruff.

It gets more mountainous during the Saxon winegrower tour along the vineyards.

“Dresden Altstadt is one big museum, with lots of interesting shops, great restaurants and nice people. It is a panorama that you can instantly take in and savour, just like a delicious cake.”

In celebration of Dresden Old Town

“What I like about Dresden is the ease with which you can get around. I live in the Neustadt district, and all I have to do is cycle across the bridge straight into the heart of the Altstadt. I find this juxtaposition of historic, culturally significant buildings and new architecture intellectually stimulating.”
