The Brühl Terrace stretches along the Elbe between the Augustus Bridge and the Carola Bridge over a length of about 500 metres. Originally built in the 16th century as part of Dresden's city fortifications, it was redesigned by Count Brühl in the 18th century. He had the so-called Brühl's Herrlichkeiten built on the former ramparts, which included his residence, a park and his library. As a result of the development, the terrace lost its military significance and developed into a popular excursion destination. Today it attracts millions of tourists. Today, the casemates of the old fortress are home to Fortress Xperience.
