Karrasburg Museum Coswig

At a glance

Visitors experience an exciting and educational time when they visit the municipal museum in the Karrasburg in Coswig

Since 1994, the premises of the villa, known as Karrasburg, have been used as a museum. The name derives from the moated castle that stood in this place in the 15th century and was inhabited by the Karras knightly dynasty.

Within the walls of the proud Karrasburg castle, the past comes back to life. The permanent exhibition tells about the history of the place. Visitors learn more about the horticultural, commercial, ecclesiastical and industrial history of Coswig and see exciting exhibits of the prehistoric and early historic settlement of the area.

Although the Karrasburg Museum Coswig is a small museum, a visit is always worthwhile, even if the permanent exhibition has already been visited. Regularly changing special exhibitions are arranged in the museum with much love, creativity and passion. Stations for discovering, trying out, researching, puzzling and playing ensure that even children do not get bored.
