Wildgehege Moritzburg

At a glance

In the 40-hectare wildlife park, visitors can get up close and personal with native species in the wild.

The Moritzburg Game Park offers year-round opportunities to observe a wide variety of animals in large, near-natural enclosures. In total, the zoo is home to more than 30 predominantly native animal species. These include fallow deer, elk, red deer, lynx and otters. An experience for all animal lovers is the Bambi petting enclosure, where sika deer can be petted. In addition, special guided tours of selected animal species can be booked at the game park.

The Moritzburg game reserve looks back on a long history. Its roots go back to the "Old Animal Garden", which Elector Johann Georg IV had built in 1693/94. Parts of the original quarry stone walls of the old game preserve have been preserved to this day and serve as enclosure boundaries.
